Good Food Market is looking for spectacular candidates to join the team as Lead Cashier of its first store in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia.

JOB SUMMARY:
Lead Cashiers of Good Food Market’s first store in Chestnut Hill Philadelphia have the opportunity to interact with every customer that stops in Good Food Market, whether or not they eventually make a purchase. This makes this position the most important one of all!

Lead Cashiers are responsible for exceeding customer satisfaction, promoting company morale, surpassing brand standards, understanding and achieving profitability, expense control and inventory control, assisting in purchasing and merchandising, and special projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain a safe, impeccably clean and well-organized working and shopping environment.
• Comply with all regulatory rules and regulations including HACCP, OSHA, Dept. of Labor, Weights and Measures and local food and sanitation laws.
• Ensure execution of established safety, security, quality, and store operations policies, procedures and practices.
• Set and achieve the highest standards in retail execution.
• Create an upbeat, pleasant atmosphere for customers, employees, and suppliers alike.
• Ensure a pleasant shopping experience for all customers, respond to customer complaints and inquiries, solicit customer feedback and input, develop personal relationships with frequent customers.
• Offer analysis and trends in purchasing behavior and prepares action plans to leverage the store's strengths and addresses areas of opportunity.
• Manage phones courteously and promptly.
• Assist during peak operational hours to ensure that quality of service always exceeds customer expectations.
• Be cross-trained in all positions in the store and is able to fill that position whenever necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Familiarity with Catapult POS cash register systems.
• Strong knowledge of and passion for grocery items, prepared foods and specialty products.
• Lead Cashiers should have demonstrated 1 or more years of cashier experience in a high volume retail or service industry.
• Familiarity with managing inventory management and profit margins.
• Strong demonstrated merchandising skills and product knowledge.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and willingness to work “on call” and travel as needed.
• Can effectively communicate with all team members and leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong mathematic skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, up to 8-10 hours.
• Must be comfortable bending, stooping and climbing.
• Must have mental and physical dexterity.
• Must be comfortable with unassisted heavy lifting, the use of box cutters, and climbing ladders.
• Work a minimum of four (4) closing or opening shifts per week and one weekend day per week.
